What is Everybody Eats?
Everybody Eats is a month-long festival organized by the Cortez Cultural Center to celebrate southwest Colorado’s food culture and raise funds for the Center. In 2024, Everybody Eats is scheduled during the month of October with two major events opening and closing the festival. Several culinary adventures are scheduled throughout the month for small groups to more deeply experience the wide variety of foods and people that make up the food culture in Southwest Colorado.
What is Food Culture?
Cooking is a foundation of regional culture along with language and art. Food preparation, culinary arts, or how people grow, prepare, and eat (chopsticks anyone?) reveal a region’s culture and values in a way that uniquely engages visitors. There is no better way to experience locally grown and milled wheat than to bite into a Navajo taco made lovingly by hand with Bluebird Flour. This is the purpose of the Everybody Eats festival.
